Level Proposal

There would be two locations a "Forest" (simple grass/ dirt material for blocks) and a "cave" (simple rock texture everywhere). The forest would be the initial setup where the player is just beginning to learn how to navigate the world, while the cave would be the more advanced in difficulty area.

The proposed theme of my level would be that of a classic adventure game just presented in a platform manner, so classic journey to collect the treasure in the dungeon (cave).

The idea behind my level is to split it into three parts ( a beginning, middle, and end) that you can travel between through teleportation. Each part would increase in difficulty, with the middle ideally being the longest.

The initial beginning introduces most basic mechanics and ideas to the player such as jumping, death, falling platforms, platforms you can jump through, and enemies.

The second part introduces moving platforms (in various combinations such as moving platforms you can jump through, moving platforms that will fall after a certain amount of time, looping, and rotating platforms), switches, spikes, and hidden rooms. The idea behind the hidden rooms are to visually signify this to the player by a slightly lighter in value material and to remove the collision on the block blocking the entrance to the player, than set it (and all other blocks blocking the player's view of the room) to invisible upon overlap.

The third part only introduces one new element which are blocks that fall down upon overlap with a trigger box, which crush and kill the player if they do not move. To achieve a satisfying ending to the level I've decided to have a moving switch controlled platform with enemy spawners above the player, the player must dodge and defeat enemies to get to the top and win. The top will be an area filled with treasure/points and a slight implication of an exit to the cave (which you'll never see because the level ends) by reintroducing the grass element from the initial first part.
